April 21, 2020 – The Government of Spain, through the Ministry of Health, continues with the daily distribution of material to the Autonomous Communities so that they can face the COVID-19 crisis in the best possible conditions.
Between March 10 and this Monday, April 20, the Government has reinforced the National Health System by sending more than 84 million units of material to the Autonomous Communities, including protective equipment, detection tests and ventilation devices. Specifically, 84,767,326 units of material have been provided to the Communities.
After the reinforcement in the shipment of masks in the last hours, the number of masks distributed among the Autonomous Regions has increased to 53,055,016 units. To date, the Government had provided the Community of Madrid with 12.9 million masks (24.3%), Cataluña had received 10.3 million masks (19.5% of the total) and Andalucía had received 4.7 million masks (8.9% of all those distributed).
The protective equipment sent to the Autonomous Communities included, in addition to masks, nitrile gloves (27.7 million units were distributed), protective goggles (218,400 units), coveralls (415,500 units), disposable gowns (312,500), hydroalcoholic solutions (306,600 units) and accessories such as tights, caps and aprons (747,300 units).
To date, the reinforcement of the National Health System includes the shipment to the Autonomous Regions of 1,000 invasive ventilation devices, 2,200 non-invasive ventilators and the distribution of two million COVID-19 diagnostic tests.
